Backyard Bistro will host Canes Corner, a live broadcast from the restaurant featuring players from the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, for the second season year in a row. All-Star goalie Cam Ward kicks off the 2011-12 Canes Corner season on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Players who also participated in the 10 live radio shows last season include All-Star and team captain Eric Staal, NHL rookie of the year Jeff Skinner, and alternate captains Tim Gleason and Brandon Sutter. A drawing will be held five minutes prior to each broadcast, where 30 lucky fans can meet, take a photo or win an autograph from the participating player. Patrons who arrive early can also purchase a Hurricane Drink or selected appetizer and receive an 8x10 color photo (a limit of 50) of the participating player. “Hosting Canes Corner is a natural fit for Backyard Bistro and all of the loyal Canes fans who enjoy the restaurant’s sports theme and family atmosphere before, during and after games,” said Backyard Bistro co-owners Lance Wheeler and Joe Lumbrazo. “The show was a tremendous success last season and we’re excited to be a major part of the off-ice activities surrounding the Carolina Hurricanes.” Canes Corner is a partnership between Backyard Bistro, the Carolina Hurricanes and 99.9 The Fan, and is in its fifth season.
The following are the dates for Canes Corner for the 2011-12 season.
